About me
Aemyn Zephyr Connolly is a poet and artist who creates through sound, print and performance.
Since the age of fourteen I've been a songwriter, I've spent years making songs to express my inner world, practice my storytelling, and hold a mirror to the world around me.
In 2021, I started discovering the joy of spoken word poetry through a local group a friend runs -- Glebe Poetry Grounds -- and got to know my own poetic voice through sharing at the table, making self-published zines and including poems in my setlist when I play music.
In 2023, I played what I think of as my first 'proper' gig -- opening for Gailla at Splinter Factory.
In 2024, I was selected by Offbeat Collective x APRA AMCOS for an LGBTQIA+ studio residency in Marrickville, and used it to collaborate with and support younger queer and trans artists.
In 2025, I wrote a song every day in January.
Aemyn has performed their music and poetry in venues around Sydney such as The Red Rattler, Sappho Books, Lazy Bones Lounge, Recycletastic, Gasoline Pony, Splinter Factory, The Dock, Hopster’s Brewery, Sydney Eye Hospital and more.
I've been really enjoying putting up a table at zine faires lately and have happily been a part of: - Blue Mountains Zine Faire - Project Market Space - Impy Community Markets - Thumper Queer Fundraiser
